Our doctor recommended that we call Equinoxe for help when my father’s Alzheimer became too difficult to manage. Everyone of their staff, from the caregivers to the nurses and care managers, was professional, compassionate and respectful. Equinoxe has provided extraordinary services for my family, taking care of my mother after surgery when she was unable to walk on her own. For Julie, 61, and her parents, Doris, 81, and James, 84, from Westmount, the offerings and flexibility of Equinoxe have been a tremendous help in facing the challenges of aging, much like they have been for thousands of Equinoxe customers since 1998.

James struggled with autonomy issues, turning simple daily tasks, such as putting on his shoes, into insurmountable challenges. Doris tirelessly served as his primary caregiver. However, an unfortunate fall left Doris unable to look after herself, let alone perform her caregiving duties for James.

This moment marked a significant crossroads for Julie, as she grappled with decisions many of us hope never to face. The prospect of moving her parents into a care facility weighed heavily on her, a decision fraught with emotional and practical complexities. It was during this turbulent time that a nurse from the Jewish Hospital, where her mother had been receiving care, recommended Equinoxe.

Julie reached out to Equinoxe, seeking to share the caregiving duties for her parents with certified and experienced caregivers—a partnership she knew was essential to manage the daily responsibilities. During this period, Equinoxe became an indispensable support for both Julie and her parents.
